Dr. Gary S. Guthart,Dr. Gusat, who has over 30 years of experience in the medical technology sector, has served as Executive Chairman of the Board since 2025. He was Chief Executive Officer of Intuitive Surgical for more than 15 years and was one of the company's core engineers in its early days. Earlier in his career, he conducted research on computer-assisted surgery at SRI International and worked as a human factors engineer at NASA. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and both a master's and a doctorate from the California Institute of Technology.
